Slipper Island is a New Zealand national treasure. One of only a small number of privately owned islands in NZ and one of the most valuable pieces of real estate in the country.
Slipper was purchased in 1971 from Tom Hooper by my parents Nora & Abe Needham as a private retreat for our large family.
Approx 570 acres in size, Slipper is situated 7km’s off the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula. Access via boat from Tairua or Pauanui, or via helicopter or light plane landing on the island’s own airstrip.
The Island is currently run as a farm and small tourist resort – Slipper Island Resort
